What is Genovasi?

Genovasi, a combination of Generasi and Inovasi or Innovation Generation, is the innovation organization to propagate innovation and design thinking skills, creating services and solutions that improve the economy and quality of life. Genovasi is a unique institution with programs focused on the cultivation of innovation competencies. Genovasi offers a human-centred learning experience to Malaysians to learn and use innovation for social inclusion, active citizenship and personal development, and to be equipped with future transferable skills to face challenges in life. Genovasi programs is the starting point for innovation. The main objective is to harness talents from various disciplines and backgrounds and provide them with skills that will make them the catalysts for innovation for a better Malaysia.

Through "Genovasi", youth will be developed as the "DUTA INOVASI NEGARA" which enables them to create wealth and improve living standards. Genovasi the combination of the word "generation" and "innovation" will work with the global innovation leader to convey knowledge on innovation, skills and methodologies to the new generation of ambassadors of innovation. Thus, the government is targeting 5-thousand ambassadors innovation will be produced in the next five years through this initiative. Youth appointed under Genovasi, will be trained and placed at the forefront of positive change to the country's move. Three areas will be offered to them to apply the skills of new innovations. Three areas are community-based projects for the benefit of the project based economy that generates waves of new wealth and government improvement projects to help improve service delivery.

For the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the Duta of innovation will be the generation of innovators who will play an active role in improving the nation's achievements. According to Datuk Seri Najib, Genovasi will be established as an innovative organization where young people who have creative minds will have extensive opportunities to be introduced to the innovation. They will learn the skills and methodology and how to apply it in real situations. In other words, innovation can bring about development, better quality of life as well as a solution for the country. This is especially in terms of improving public service delivery of government departments, ministries and municipalities. Innovation is also able to improve the quality of life in rural areas and create new economic wealth through entrepreneurship.

So clearly show features creative and innovative not only exist in one person but it is closely related to the contributor or other factors such as leadership, thought and culture of an organization to determine the success, development and growth of an organization especially educational organization. The ambassadors, somewhat like students, go through a structured program to pick up skills to innovate and bring it back to the workforce to be applied to real jobs. Genovasi will be open to working adults as well as university students and will start recruiting its first batch of ambassadors at the beginning of year 2013. 

There will be three tracks for the participants to learn innovative skills community-centric projects benefiting the society, economic-focused projects and government-enhancement projects. Together with the international partners, Genovasi offer a range of programs that encourage a different way of thinking that will equip the innovation generation with leading innovation practices and methodologies enabling them to face challenges of the 21st Century.
